(More customer reviews)Purchased one of these to add an additional hard drive to a 2011 MacBook Pro; I have it working, but it took some hacking. The three main problems are that the hard drive slot does not securely hold the drive, the caddy is too large for the space in the computer, and there is no way to actually attach the caddy to the MBP body.
1.) The caddy relies on the connection to the SATA port to hold your hard drive in place; there are no screws holding it down (I used some Sugru to secure it).
2.) The caddy itself is too large to fit into the slot; if you dismantle it, however, there is a front plastic plate that can be removed. Removing this will make it too small, but it will go in.
3.) The caddy has no way to attach the existing DVD drive's bracket (although it does fit under the wireless bracket, which will help stabilize it). I used a rolled up piece of high-quality paper to finish tensioning the drive in place.
The actual hardware data interfaces work fine; my extra drive works great. The caddy was just a pain to install and I would not recommend except for those inclined to hack their hardware!
