I am a college student, and I travel with this computer on a daily basis. I bought this from my campus's local Apple Store for $50. I have had this item for approximately 3 months now.
Pro's:
Fits well. It is snug, yet leaves all ports open. I have no trouble with and ports on the side (power, ethernet, firewire, usb, or headphone jack). It does provide scratch resistance. I am not worried about putting things on top of the laptop with the case. Also, the texture is nice, some what of a grip/softness to it. It is not transparent plastic that looks cheap. It makes the macbook pro seem to feel better; feels more solid.
Con's:
The biggest problem are the two little pieces of plastic that hold the bottom case on by the touch pad. They broke after about 2 months of use. The case for the screen seem to be much sturdier and built better. My bottom case now falls off regularly. Perhaps I was just careless, however I feel that my use was not extreme or conducive to them breaking off.
Also, the bottom case seems to trap heat. It has venting holes, but it still retains some heat. Not that big of an issue though.
*It will not protect against drops, just scratches*
Overall:
If asked to buy this thing over, knowing it would break 2 months later, I would NOT. Simply because it was $50. That money could have gone towards food. Being a poor college student, I thought I was protecting my computer, however, it seems like my sleeve provides more protection. If they fixed the problem, making those two plastic pieces stronger, then I would.
