It is certainly small, and maybe if you need just a little boost to your battery it might work for you, but I am getting no where near the stated time, or amount of charge. So from a auxiliary battery point of view, it doesn't cut it. Secondly, because it's a little heavy (certainly heavier than Apple engineers envisioned anything that hangs off the dock connector being) it really wiggles around, does not stay put, and on top of that also loosens up the dock connector itself.

(More customer reviews)My MacBook Pro, combined with the EyeTV Hybrid and an over-the-air HDTV antenna, has been my first introduction into the beautiful quality of broadcast HDTV. While the USB stick is a little big and clunky looking hanging off the side of the laptop, the picture and DVR functionality it delivers has been top-notch! I'm certainly buying another one for the new desktop Mac I'm picking up.
I've had this product since version 2 of the software, and El Gato has been great about issuing software updates, bug fixes and interface improvements in the 6+ months I've owned it. Version 3 of the software is very polished and functioning well. Upgrades for software have so far been free and delivered in just a minute or two over my broadband Internet connection. The EyeTV software always checks for any new versions that might be out and notifies you on-screen that a new version is available.
The only thing I don't enjoy about the product is the remote control. It's a bit cheap looking and has some bad ergonomics in regards to controlling the software. Plus it does not take advantage of the Mac's own built-in infra-red remote receiver, but instead uses one on the USB stick. That can make for some awkward aiming to get the stick to see the remote's commands.
Other than that, I'd recommend this product to any Mac user wanting an HDTV connection. I'd imagine this would be a great space-saving device for kids in dorms too! Eliminate space taken by a TV. Your Mac will make an excellent HDTV and DVR with this inexpensive device!ADDENDUM: 2/13/2010
As pointed out by another customer, EyeTV software _now_ is able to use the Apple Remote directly with the built-in infra red receiver on new Mac's with the latest updates to the soft ware. Thanks, El Gato! And it functions really well while watching recorded material. I have not tried it with menu navigation, etc., in the tuner section of the software. I loved this product so much that I did end up picking up another one. But this time I bought the more expensive EyeTV 250 Plus for use on a 24" iMac. The 250 Plus basically adds a small box with analog video inputs and its own processor for converting analog videos to digital. I have some old videotapes and LaserDiscs that I plan on archiving this way. You can also do this with the EyeTV Hybrid, but it uses the Mac's own CPU for most of the processing muscle. (More customer reviews)I bought this to connect my Iphone 3GS to my Toyota 4Runner stock radio. The phone connects via bluetooth and will stream music to the radio as promised. Incoming calls ring through the speakers, and pressing the button on the Satechi mutes the music and answers the call.
I can talk hands free using the built-in microphone, then return to music when the call ends. People at the other end of the call say it sounds like I'm in a "tin box," but that they can understand me. The volume level of phone calls is different from the volume level of music, thus you have to turn up the volume for phone calls, then turn it down again for the music.
The FM transmission is is not perfect, but it works. There is occassional static/interference from power lines, other cars with their own FM transmitters, or signal bleed from local FM stations. This isn't unique to the Satechi, as I have seen the same comments about similar devices from other manufacturers. It is just the compromise you make for a "wireless" solution that works with your existing radio.
I would give this product 3 or 4 stars, except for one thing: The display FLASHES CONSTANTLY when playing music, and it is BRIGHT! This makes it very distracting when driving at night.
Overall the unit works as advertised, and if you only drive during the day I could recommend it. But the bright flashing display makes it unusable at night. If you want a unit you can use at night, I recommend looking at other products.
*** UPDATE 7-20-2009 ***
As mentioned in other reviews, Satechi technical support is very responsive. They proactively contacted me about the flashing light and are trying to work out a solution. I'll update this review again with the results.

After discussing the problem, Satechi recommended their "Soundfly BT" model instead. It is similar to the BT04, with some added features, but most importantly does NOT have a bright flashing display. They graciously offered an exchange, which is in process now. SATECHI SUPPORT GETS 5 STARS, they have really gone out of their way to contact me, work out the issue, and find a way to make me a satisfied customer. I will post a review of the Soundfly BT unit when the exchange is complete.

ASUS UL20A-A1 Thin and Light 12.1-Inch Silver Laptop - 7.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium) Review

(More customer reviews)I just upgraded to this laptop from an 8.9" Atom-powered netbook (an Asus EeePC 900HA). Here are my thoughts after using the UL20A for a few days:
Pro's:
1. SMALL FOOTPRINT & LIGHT WEIGHT. The footprint of the laptop is similar to an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper (just slightly narrower and slightly longer), and at 3.3lbs, putting it in your briefcase or backpack is no more burdensome than an extra book or binder.
2. EXCELLENT KEYBOARD. The relatively large "chiclet" keyboard makes for an effortless typing experience.
3. PERFECT SCREEN SIZE. With a 12.1" 1366x768 screen, you're getting the resolution of a 13.3" laptop in a smaller package. At 130 pixels per inch, text on the 12" screen is often pretty small, but still acceptable. I would however advise against smaller screens (e.g. 11.6") at this resolution.
4. EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE. Despite the low clock speed, the UL20A's Core 2 Duo is MUCH faster than any Intel Atom. HD YouTube videos play flawlessly at ~67% CPU utilization, and general performance seems much smoother than on my old netbook. I especially notice the difference when scrolling through PDF's, which was often very slow and jerky on my EeePC.
5. EXCELLENT BATTERY LIFE. After 4.5 hours of mixed light web browsing, email, and PDF viewing, I still had 40% charge left. If the battery continued to be depleted at that rate, you'd end up with--that's right--exactly the quoted 7.5 hours! I used Windows 7's "Balanced" power scheme (not any of Asus's Power4Gear modes). After some testing, I can confirm that the processor will ramp up to max frequency during heavy usage with this mode, so there's no reason not to leave it in "Balanced" all the time.
6. VERY QUIET. Even when using it in a quiet room, it's nearly impossible to hear any fan noise.
7. EXTRA WARRANTY. The UL20A comes with 1 year of "accidental damage" coverage.
8. LITTLE THIRD-PARTY BLOATWARE. The only (non-Asus) bloatware was an anti-virus software trial and some silly games. I uninstalled these in minutes (and replaced the A-V trial with Microsoft's free Security Essentials program).
9. WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM. Unlike most netbooks, which ship with either Microsoft's ancient Windows XP or the crippled Windows 7 Starter Edition, this laptop comes with the full "premium" version of Microsoft's brand-new OS.
Con's:
1. ANNOYING TOUCHPAD. The texture of the touchpad causes way too much friction, which irritates your finger. The pointer also periodically freezes, placing a strange gray circle near the cursor (this is probably some stupid Synaptics feature I haven't figured out how to disable yet).
2. GLOSSY SCREEN. This causes annoying reflections, but in fairness most laptops have these nowadays.
3. ABSURD JUMBLE OF ASUS UTILITIES. Asus includes nearly a dozen separate utilities for various functions. Most have weird names, and it's not apparent what they do until you click on them. They also each seem to have their own distinct (amateurish) user interface. At the very least, Asus needs to cut the number of included programs in half (both through consolidation and elimination of pointless and redundant functions).
4. DISAPPOINTING LCD QUALITY. As was the case with my EeePC's screen, the contrast is too high, and there's a significant blue-ish hue by default. I do NOT recommend this laptop for SERIOUS photo editing (i.e. not for professionals). It should be fine for most users though.
Summary:
This notebook seems to hit a sweet spot between netbooks and full-size laptops: You're getting an almost full-size keyboard, adequate screen resolution, snappy performance, and Windows 7 Home Premium, while retaining much of the portability, low-cost, and battery life of a netbook.

While the hardware is mediocre, the software is garbage.
Vista support is rare, Vista x64 support is ubelievably rare, and Windows 2008 support is non-existant.
Microsoft's own fingerprint reader wont properly support Windows Server 2008 or 64 bit.
On the other handm the Eikon /Upek solution is fantastic.
The hardware is made from aluminum instead of plastic and has a nice sturdy feel. However its the software that makes this solution stand out as "best of breed"
Not only does it support 64 bit and Vista and Windows 2008 Server, but it supports 2 factor and 3 factor authentication as well.
When you run the software, your first impression is WOW. The user experience is fantastic. It installs perfectly, its very intuitive and is very visually appealing.
It looks and feels like they really spent a lot of time on polishing the sofware.
If you are looking for a fingerprint solution, this is it.
Im so happy with my purchase that I just threw out my Microsoft and APC readers and I deleted my Omnipass software(that I had to pay extra for)
My new christmas wish is to get this reader built-in to a keyboard for my office PC.
Bottom line: I give it 12 out of 10. I bonus point for broad OS support and 1 bonus point for "exceeding expectations"

(More customer reviews)To qualify this review, the first thing to note is that the case was only $15, so all things considered it is a decent product. However, the product description leads you to believe this is a sleeve made specifically for the iPad. It is not. It is a generic sleeve, made to fit multiple products, and would probably best fit a netbook.
The sleeve is too big on both sides. There is an extra half inch all over, leading to lots of movement within the sleeve. I would much prefer a sleeve that fit snug and tight. It does accomplish its intended purpose though, which is to protect the ipad from scratches. The neoprene is nice, not too thick nor too thin. There is a pocket on the inside which you slip the iPad into to protect it from the zipper as you open it. The pocket on the outside is nice also, will easily fit the charger and a cleaning cloth and some earbuds maybe.
This is a decent sleeve at a good price. It was available early on at the ipad's release, but I'll be replacing it with a case made specifically for the iPad soon.

It works with Windows 7, plug and play for DVDs and CDs - just plug it in and pop in a disk.
I have not used it to write any DVDs or CDs yet, but have used it to load software from DVD and play Blu-Ray disks
It comes with 2 installation CDs -
- Encina CD Maker - I'd suggest skipping this install - I find it easier to use Windows to write data CDs and DVDs which is all it does.
- Cyberlink Blu-ray Disk Suite - This is required to play BluRay disks, and appears to allow building of video DVDs, including a simple movie composer.. This is absolutely worth installing. Be patient, the installation took a long time for me.
I'm using this with a new Dell Inspiron 11 11.6-Inch Obsidian Black Laptop (Windows 7 Premium) Which comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. As I mentioned, I haven't run into any incompatabilities, and haven't run into any problems yet with power consumption or trouble with any transfer rate on the disks.
Will update if I find more.

Lenovo S10-3t 0651-37U 10.1-Inch Multitouch Netbook (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)Got this about 1 week ago with the 8 cell battery and 250GB hard drive. I upgraded the RAM to 2GB and have upgraded the OS to Win7 Pro in order to take full advantage of the touch/tablet features. Out of the box, this took only about 5 minutes to power on and setup. Lenovo tries to get you to pull the trigger on several add-on apps upon booting the first time, but you can skip it. These are programs like ID vault and other useful but unnecessary programs. After skipping that, I setup a few things for Windows, and we're in! My wireless network detected without a hitch. I'm using a Zyxel 550N router...great signal and reception.Touch screen:
I was anxious to try the touch screen, so I dove in and tried the Lenovo installed stuff 1st. Lenovo Natural Touch is the app that appears to be much like the U1 interface shown at CES. Very "iPhone-like". It runs a little laggy at first, but when you get a feel for the touch speed, it is actually quite responsive. I tried playing with pictures and the multi-touch works great! IT DOES WORK without having to upgrade windows to a higher version than starter edition...but, using Lenovo's custom software. I played the sample video which ran pretty smooth and looked just fine. I then tried the notes app and recorded a video of myself which worked as expected. I was able to write on sticky notes witout a problem using my fingertip. I also bought a Pogo which I think works fine for the touch points and just okay for actual writing.So, I had a license for Win7 Pro and decided to install it since it added full support for tablets. I got a student deal for $29 a while back...couldn't resist. So, I did the anytime upgrade and it took about 20 minutes total. Whalla...Win7 Pro.I quickly installed Office 2007 including OneNote. They all work fine and multi-touch works to zoom in Word and Powerpoint. OneNote is super for this tablet!!! You can take documents and use a highlighter on screen or scribble notes on top of text documents...VERY COOL and will be quite useful!LCD quality:
The screen is beautiful--very clear and while reflective/glossy, the quality is excellent, bright and easy to look at.
The screen of course can be viewed vertically or normally. In portrait mode, I found the picture to be a little less sharp and it puts a slight strain on the eye. I'm not sure if its the refresh rate or what, but there is a slight metallic sheen to images and a little bit of a contrast issue. Nothing major, but definitely noticeable. By default, the accelerometer is turned offWeb tests:
It of course has IE, but I downloaded Firefox for security and personal preference reasons. Both run fine. They both seem to respond to the multi-touch and the spread gesture zooms in, while swiping scrolls. You can easily navigate like you would on an iPhone. Speed was good.I played a few flash games and they played full speed. My 3 yr old daughter even played some games at [...] and used the touch screen to control them with ease!I then tried streaming movies on netflix....perfect playback although the screen size and format can waste a little screen real estate. I played a 4:3 movie and it wasted a lot of space until I went full screen...the small browser window made it so you had to scroll up or down a bit in order to see the whole picture. Going full-screen fixed it.
So, flash and silverlight work just fine. I plan to try some other games soon to push this a little....I'll report back as I get time.Inking:
I have no experience with other units that have the RF pens, but I can say that the inking/writing is not overly intuitive. Windows Journal and other tablet apps work great though. One I train myself and calibrate this to my writing, I think it'll improve a lot. The pen/highlighter that I can use in other Office apps is going to be useful for research and school work. The handwriting recognition is not super and almost a waste for inputting a lot of text, even with the Pogo stylus I bought. Plan to use this for drawing and less detailed writing...Misc. Stuff:
SD card reader works great and you can flip through pictures on the card via the Lenovo Natural touch app. The speakers and sound quality are not good at all. It is very "tin-ny" and not loud, though in a quiet room I guess it would be ok. Voices in a movie are audible, but the EQ is bad. I didn't try headphones, but I'm positive that they'd improve the listening experience. A program called "Bumptop" is included an pretty cool to show off touch features. It creates a 3-D environment for files and pictures that you can move around and stick on walls, stack up or sort. A brief tutorial shows you how...pretty cool. Like many other Lenovo products, this too has the facial recognition which works okay. It came with McAfee security suite on it, which I promptly removed since I'm not a fan. I am just using MS Security Suite and Malicious SW tools....works fine for me. I won't do any risky browsing anyway on this. I haven't tried an eBook, but I think this won't look any different than a regular notebook. The screen is certainly not e-ink though I think it'll serve the purpose for those of us who want the capability, but don't plan to buy a kindle or even the iPad.The 8-cell battery (getting 6-6.5hrs) works great as a grip when using this in portrait/tablet modes. The keyboard has a nice feel to it, though fast touch-typists like myself are going to struggle when trying to type a lot. The left-hand side of the KB is slightly smaller for shift/tab/caps keys, but still very useable. Full sized keys, but the layout is just slightly off. The SD slot is in the front and covered when not in use...Final Thoughts:
I bought this because I wanted something to travel with and Apple didn't really announce what I needed in January. So, I wanted something new and cool...which this is. I thought the idea of a touch interface was in line with progress and I'm happy I got this. For the price, this is a sound solution for a netbook that gives you just enough "shiny and new" to keep interest. The touch is not a gimmick and I will make use of it for sure. The build quality is solid and the look/finish is beautiful, though a finger print magnet for sure. Overall, I must say that I am quite happy with this purchase. As a Mac user, I often have a less than stellar outlook on PC machines, though Win7 is a huge improvement. Not without the issues that plague all Windows machines, this Lenovo is exactly what I wanted and will prove to be a great 2nd laptop and travel companion.

(More customer reviews)An exceptionally well constructed hardbody case with clean, uncluttered lines in a subtle shade of off-white, low gloss (not matte) finish. It encases my macbook pro like a well fitted glove and feels pleasing to the touch ... not slippery or tacky. All computer openings are accessible and the bottom piece is more than adequately and amply provided with air holes for cooling and ventilation. There are four color coordinated rubber 'feet' that raise the computer fractionally off of a surface, and offer additional air flow and stability. The top is simple elegance, enhanced by its 'not-quite white, almost light ivory' classic color. This case is noticeably better constructed and more sturdy than the flimsy, clear plastic case on an older macbook. I did considerable research before choosing this particular model of the Encase, and still had a bit of hesitation when I pressed the Amazon purchase key. I need not have: the case arrived quickly, well packaged with with clear instructions and was easy to attach with tabs that are unobtrusive. The top and bottom slip off quickly and reattach quickly and snugly. The Apple logo is not visible through the plastic which additionally offers a simple, unassuming uniqueness to the overall appearance of discernment. This macbook pro and this Encase look like they are an efficient and elegant complement to one another.

1) 32MB buffer vs 16MB. This means the drive is overall faster because it can store more data in memory local to the drive. So if you access the same data frequently there is little or no drive access to get at the data.
2) Dual processors vs single. This will alleviate the load on your CPU as the drive itself has more processing power locally.
3) Five year warranty vs three. Five years is a lifetime in hardware. Basically, you're covered for longer than you will most likely use the drive.
The Caviar Black line comes in three four sizes; 1TB, 750GB, 640GB, and 500GB. The 1TB and 640GB are the fastest because they use a denser platter technology which allows the drive head to get at the data quicker. The 750GB and 500GB are no slouches though and the differences in speed will not be noticeable to most people under most real-world usage scenarios.
Caviar Black drives are the fastest affordable consumer drives available today. If you want faster you have to look that the VelociRaptor 10000RPM line of drives but expect to pay a lot more for a lot less storage.
I measured the speed of the 750GB model using the HD Tune utility and access time was a fast 12.5ms with less than 1% CPU usage on my 3.2Ghz Intel Quad Core setup. The drive runs cool at 32°C in my system and is quiet. Overall a great drive at a great price. You can't really go wrong.

(More customer reviews)After having my XPS M1530 kicking the bucket I had it sent back to dell for a full refund. I had always wanted an Alienware computer but always thought they were too expensive. When I finally got my refund back it was too late in the summer to custom build one from Alienware with school coming soon. So I looked on Amazon and sure enough they had the M15x for sale. So I said why not since it was only a bit more than my XPS system, tacked on 1 day shipping with Amazon Prime and got it the next day.
My god this thing is beautiful. The build quality of this laptop is fantastic, I love the hard plastic finish on the palm rest. It doesn't smudge and my hands will not deteriorate the material like on my M1530. They keyboard has minimal flex and the 900P screen is fantastic to look at. The touch pad isnt that great but who cares, its a gaming laptop, your expected to use an external mouse. The Alienware FX lighting system on this thing is so cool. Any one that sees this thing will instantly be attracted to the multicolor light up keyboard, it looks awesome.
As for the performance of this laptop look no further. This thing is very fast with the specs it ships with. My system actually came with 1333MHZ DDR3 instead of the stated 1066MHZ. The i7 720 quad CPU is a beast for multitasking. Alienware is great about not sending their systems with any bloatware which slows your PC down at start up, even still I like to do a fresh install with any of my systems and I have only 5 start up items, which makes load times for windows within seconds after entering the password, or having the laptop camera recognize your face. Gaming is great with this thing, the 5850 seriously pulls it weight, you can also flash its bios to make it run at the 5870s clock speeds. So far I have only played Oblivion on this thing. It runs at 1600x900 with high settings, 2AA, and maintains a respectable frame rate.
If you dont feel like waiting from Dell to pick up an Alienware, get this from Amazon. You will not be disappointed.

(More customer reviews)After a couple of blue screens and the keyboard failing on my, up until now ,trusty 4 yr old Dell laptop, I went shopping for a new one. Its amazing how much computer you can buy for the money now. I decided that since I mainly check email and generally just use the computer at home for the internet, that the smaller netbook size computer would be nice. I looked at Dell,Toshiba,Acer,Asus,Lenovo, and this Sony. Specs wize, they are all very similar. I liked the idea of a larger 250G hard drive on this Sony and the other specs seemed to be up to par with the rest of the lot. The one thing that sold me was the constuction quality and the styling. It is very clear from the moment you open the screen that this machine is a notch above the rest in terms of quality of construction. Its very sleek and modern looking in appearance and very light in weight. The screen is extremely bright, much brighter than the Dell in battery mode. The keys all fucntion well and are well spaced even though it is, I believe a 89% keyboard in size.
I think the key to this computer performing up to the standards that its look implies is contingent upon uping the RAM to the 2 gig max it will take. If you watch the video on youtube on how to do it its simple. Just be sure to remove all the screws so that the keyboard comes out easily and then switching out the RAM located under it becomes literaly a snap. you can buy the Ram from Amazon for around $40.00 or so and put it in yourself. Be sure to have the battery disconnected and THEN press the power button to discharge all elecricity.
Don't concern yourself abnout the fan noise as mentioned by other reviews as it's really nothing and barely audible in use. If you are looking for a thin ,light weight computer with great styling and functionality you will not be disappointed.

Seconly, wasn't able to use upper mounting bracket nor inverter bracket, had to use tape for inverter. Screen installed and powered up, but brightness level seems out ot sync. Can't get the screen to full brightness. It however works and I can see the screen but I'm still not fully satisfied w the purchase.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a Bluetooth gps for use with my blackberry 8320 Curve. I heard some favorable comments about this one on a forum, and decided to check it out. It is surprising small and very simple to operate: just press a little recessed button, and it powers up and searches for satellites, and gives a solid Bluetooth connection. I haven't had a single problem; reliability has been 100%. It even powers down when an application is no longer communicating with it. Battery life hasn't been an issue for me. I just charge it up at the end of the day. I have a ball cap that has a small zippered pocket, which has been perfect for toting the gps. I've also found that having a 'remote' gps like this one is great for when in the car. I just throw my hat (containing the gps) on the dash board, and gives the gps a clear view of the satellites, whereas other self-contained devices would not have a clear view sitting in the middle of a car. All in all, a great addition to your blackberry, especially if using the free Google Maps with actual satellite imagery-- just amazing!

(More customer reviews)We have noted various other computers while both shopping and helping solve our family's various computer issues, so I knew about what I wanted when it came time to replace our 10 year old IBM T23 Think Pad. Price was also a factor in our selection and frankly I simply wanted a Lenovo having had a long and very good experience with my T23. Lenovo is continuing the tougness of the past generation of IBM laptops.
The Lenovo G530 is really a fantastic laptop. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the $1200 laptops have, but it is extremely quick in doing everything I need when I go online. There is tons of storage space with a 165 gig Hard Drive, plus tons of memory-- and I am even starting to like Windows 7. I may eventually go back to Linux Ubuntu distro which is my OS of choice.
The Lenovao G530 has a very bright wide screen moniter. All functions are responding well. Lenovo has continued the IBM PC and Laptop appearance, and I chuckle at the black matte finish and think: "something only a mother could love." Don't worry about appearances, they still have the toughness that I enjoyed for years with my T23. Imagine going from 30 gig hard drive up to 165 gigs, and the same relative improvements on the processor speeds and memory capacity. This unit literally flies from on web page to another. The visual properties of the 15.4 inch monitor as well as the more than adequate sound card give good performance for enjoying videos as well as extended listening to your favorite audios through Windows Media which is included in the Windows 7 Premium OS.
I plug in my Koss PortaPro Headphones and hear every detail of the music. The sound card gives crisp digital audio performance that you will really enjoy. I'm not an audiophile but enjoy listening to a lot of good music and I appreciate the sound that I get with the Lenovo G530
We are very satisfied with this purchase which arrived from Amazon in just two days. We used the $40 Amazon Vista rebate so the entire purchase was $400.00 which is a very good value for a laptop with the large screen and obvious quality and speed. A tip that works for me, instead of paying extra to buy Windows Office, we installed Open Office which works great for me both on Windows 7 and our Linux OS which I have on our Dell Desktop PC.
I recommend this computer and feel you'll get many performance features that you get on computers that cost much more. I have owned Gateway, Dell, HP and IBM and much prefer the current Lenovo G530 to all of them. Our Dell Desktops are recent purchases. The G530 has quickly taken over as my favorite. Great Value, Very Fast, and Built Tough.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this as a replacement for my Toshiba laptop cord. The low price is a lot better than the 80 dollar official "green" replacement. Though I haven't had any problems with it, the cord is like four feet in length. It isn't convenient in the slightest and it just looks odd. I have to carry an extension cable with it if I go anywhere foreign to me and I don't know where the electrical outlets are. Still, I guess its what you get for the low price. Still not buying the 80 dollar Igo cord.
