Be aware that this computer, with powerful components, comes without the video capacity to allow those components to work well. Had 4 blue screens after purchasing the item, and had to do several "heroics" that more novice users would not have been able to perform. Had to purchase, from another source, the "recommended" video card that set me back another $80. I sent 3 emails to communicate with the sellers, and received no answers. I have made this one work for me, but it is not for the user who can't figure out what is wrong.

ThinkPad 030245U Edge 15 15.6" Laptop (2.40 GHz AMD Turion II X2 Dual-Core P540 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Windows 7 Professional 64) Review

I been owning this laptop for a month now and I got to say for the price you can't really get more bang for your buck. The firewire/USB Hybrid port is really cool because you get a firewire port and don't lose a USB port.
This is a list of all the ports.
4 USB (2 normal usb port 1 USP powered port and the firewire/usb Hybrid)
1 SD card slot.
1 VGA output
1 HDMI output
1 PCI ExpressCard slot a rarity these days but that mean USB 3.0 is just one easy upgrade away.
1 Gigabit Ethernet
1 DVD/CD Burner tray look flimsy but who use CD or DVD anymore anyway?
This version of the Edge 15 come with 2GB of DDR3 Ram but you can push it to 8GB with two of these babies! 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory Module 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) 1066MHz DDR31066/PC38500 DDR3 SDRAM SoDIMM KTL-TP1066/4G
Come with Windows 7 whatever version I played with 7 for about twenty minutes than I got bored and partitioned the drive and installed Ubuntu Maverick for real work. In Linux Everything worked right out of the box Wi-Fi, HDMI, Compiz, the Webcam you name it this baby does it! This is by far the easiest Linux experience I ever had with both a laptop and desktop.
Pros Everything
Cons nothing worse than the DVD flimsiness.

If you are looking for a sleek case to fit your MacBook Air, this could be it. If you are looking for an attractive case that resembles a manilla office folder, this doesn't cut it. The yellow vinyl on this evenlope is BRIGHT yellow and resembles a yellow rain jacket, rather than an office envelope. I am returning mine, not because of the product's quality, but because this is not something I want to be seen carrying around.

Acer Aspire One AOD255E-13410 10.1-Inch Netbook (Aquamarine) Review

Acer Aspire One AOD255E-13410 10.1-Inch Netbook (Aquamarine)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I was out looking for a laptop, one of the tech guys warned me that no matter what (non-apple) brand or type of laptop I chose, after 1 year the battery life would diminish by half, and then after the second year it would decrease by half again. So a 4 hour laptop battery would last only 1 hour after 2 years. I dont know if this is true, but in my experience my old windows based laptops never had long battery life.
So I looked a long time for a netbook with a long battery life. I was willing to give up computing power and processor speed for battery life, and I only wanted to run the MS Office suite and a browser. If you are like me, you'll find your needs nicely met with the AOD255E, which lasts for a full 8+ hours and recharges quickly. I charge it about once a week, and I use it about 3 days per week.
Not sure why, but battery life seems to be a function of both the processor (how the processor efficiently uses battery power) and the number of battery cells. This netbook uses an Intel Atom 455 and a 6 cell battery and gets at least an 8 hour charge, so far. I dont know if Acer designed for this combination or if they just merged these two features together, but so far it has resulted in good results.
It comes with Windows 7 starter. I dont really want to upgrade to the full version of 7 because I like the spare starter version. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but also very quick to load and quick to operate. Out of the box this netbook is sloooooow, but I bought the 2 GB ram upgrade suggested by Amazon, which I confirmed with Crucial was the correct one. Because the AOD255E is such a new model, Crucial did not have pictures of the netbook, so they couldn't send me pictorial directions on swapping out my memory chip. So I had a computer friend swap it out for me- he said it is easy to figure out if you've swapped out netbook memory before. He said I could swap out for as much as 4 GB RAM, but in checking wikipedia, it says the max for System 7 Starter is 2 GB RAM.
When I first got my netbook, and was paying attention to this kind of thing, I could use it for about 2 hours and it would still tell me it had 9 hours of power left. I dont really notice anymore because I havent hit the battery life wall yet.
It is very light and cute and doesnt give off a lot of heat while operating. I carry it in this hard case: Notebook Hard Case up to 14.1" color Green with shoulder strap - Low Profile. which I bought on sale for cheap from Amazon, and decorated the netbook with this matching skin: iPod Touch Skin (High Gloss Finish) - Lime Punch which was way too expensive but I couldnt resist it. I get lots of admiring comments when I whip my notebook out because it looks adorable, but mostly I am happy with the performance and at 2 lbs, my shoulder never aches from carrying it around.
I think that it currently comes only in black, which fingerprints way too easily, but with a skin on, its fine.

Rocketfish Digital Wireless Speakers RF-WS01 - Wireless speaker system - 8 Watt (total) - 2-way Review

Rocketfish Digital Wireless Speakers RF-WS01 - Wireless speaker system - 8 Watt (total) - 2-way
Average Reviews:

I've seen a number of negative reviews regarding volume on the RF-WS01. Mine arrived two days ago and I was very disappointed at first. So much so that I decided to sell them on eBay, with a notation about the lack of volume. To create a nice photo I hooked up the wireless sender to an MP3 player, and practically damaged my ear-drums. Here's what I learned: The Volume On The Music Source MUST Be Turned Up To Maximum, and then adjust the volume on the speakers.
I plan on keeping the speakers. They're very nice.

Golla METRO black 2010 Sleeve 17.3-Inch Review

Golla METRO black 2010 Sleeve 17.3-Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I checked out several other sleeves including the Sumdex Aircube, Lowe Pro, and countless other ones I saw at Office Depot, Best Buy, Frye's, and Staples. This sleeve, had the snuggest fit for my Dell Studio 17 (I bought my Dell in May 2010; exact model is the Dell Studio 17/1747). I use the sleeve to carry my laptop in my Timbuk2 messenger bag. If you also own a Dell Studio 17, and you're looking for a sleeve that will hold the Dell Studio 17/1747, I definitely recommend the Golla Metro 17.3 for it! The size of the sleeve seems to be made to custom fit the Studio 17. Unfortunately, since similarly sized laptops have differing dimensions between makers, I can't really attest to how well fitted the Golla METRO 17.3" is to other 17" WS laptops out there. Also, if you're looking for something rugged and more robust than a simple well-padded sleeve, this isn't the right product for you. A thing I liked about the Golla design is that the zipper is built on the edge of the sleeve, versus in the center splitting the top and bottom halves. This design I believe prevents the interior side of the zipper from scratching the laptop. I hope this helps someone with the same laptop as me.

HP G42-230US 14-Inch Laptop Review

HP G42-230US 14-Inch Laptop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
!!UPDATED!!
I have had my g42-230us for three months and found it to be a decent moderately powerful computer. The 7200RPM hard drive and 1Mb per core cache give it the extra "umph" it needs to compete with the Intel offers.
This computer, like most consumer targeted systems, came loaded with bloatware (software that isn't required and slows down performance).
I am a computer tech so the first thing I recommend for this and all consumer targeted computers is to make the restore DVD's as soon as you turn on the computer and before you connect to a network or the internet. Second thing I recommend to do is to get a genuine copy of Windows 7, then use it to reformat (and delete all extra hard drive partitions) and reinstall operating system. Doing this is almost literally the difference between night and day. You will realize more hard drive space, faster boot and shutdown, no software "nags" (other than Windows 7 "nags") or bloatware pop ups to activate and upgrade trial software and no performance robbing unnecessary running services and registry entries.
I tell my customers to consider this a required cost to any big brand consumer level computer purchased (comsumer level computers are typicaly computers sold that are not installed with Windows 7 Professional). You can get windows here on Amazon:Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Microsoft Windows 7 Professional . Keep in mind bloatware keeps the cost of the computer down (the computer's maker is often paid to install this trial software in hopes it will lead to the sale of the full product.
After installing Genuine Windows 7 64bit I have a decent professional grade laptop for a few hundred less than what HP sells them for otherwise.
Clarification from what other reviews have stated: All three USB ports are v2.0 and are powered to 500mA. I have tested them and confirmed this to be true even under battery power.
Note:
No modem is included and no PC Card socket is present.
The speakers and Altec Lansing, upward facing above the Function keys near the display hinge.
Wired LAN is not Gigabit Ethernet (this is a real downgrade from my almost four year old Acer Aspire).
Annoyances:
The power button is slightly recessed and very small. I have very small fingers but still have to press the button multiple times to get it depressed enough to activate (but now I just use my finger nail and it works fine).
The hard drive activity light looks to be a 1mm LED mounted behind a hole in the left side of the unit next to the media card reader. This is excellent for the person sitting to my left when they want to know if my hard drive is active but totally useless to me.
Also the power / charging light looks to be a 1mm LED mounted behind a hole on the right side near the DC input. This too is excellent for the person on my right that wants to know if my laptop is charging or on but totally useless to me.
There is however a power light in the power button above the Function keys and speakers near the hindge but it to looks to be a 1mm LED pointed straight up and can't be seen when the lid is closed so you cannot see if your computer is on/sleeping/or off unless you open the lid or look at the led on the right side of the unit.
Almost a deal killer is the fact that the touchpad area is not recessed or raised, nor does it have a different pattern or texture than the palm rests. Without looking, using the touchpad buttons as an guide, a person cannot feel where the touchpad area starts and ends on the left and right side. I used 3M blue painters tape 3M 2090 Scotch-Blue Painter's Tape for Multi-Surfaces 1-Inch x 60-Yard, 4-Rollto create outlines of the touchpad area to use the unit in the dark and without watching my fingers.
Battery:
The stock battery is a MU06 and the battery life is very good but I got the MU09 extended life batter anyway. The extended life battery does stick out some at the bottom causing a funny lop-sided look. Also an optional higher watt charger can be found but I don't know it would be any better than the one included. HP 90W Smart Ac Adapter US
I like Acer / Gateway laptops because I had always found them easy to work on but I have already taken this one apart pretty well and it isn't as bad as the HP computers of previous years.
I have a report for Speccy on my unit:

I have been informed that there is a clean install restore option but this is not an option on my unit. The factory restore "clean" option still installs many services and registry items including HP "nags" and programs that connect to HP's web site to keep you informed up updates and messages (offers). The clean install I recomend will give a user the most out of the computer.
!!!!!!CAVEAT!!!!!!!: Some users do not mind or miss the lost performance and hard drive space and can very well live with the hp "clean" install or even the factory install.
I only mention the clean install in my review because I and most of my cutomers are "power" users and prefere a true Windows clean install from a genuine Windows disc. Plus a person can buy almost the same computer without the bloatware software installed for twice the price. I am just pointing out an alternative to spending twice the money and getting the almost the same computer as a pro model.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Set Review

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Set
Average Reviews:

I can say with all fairness, this is the best keyboard and mouse combination set I have ever used. The unique wave design of the keyboard helps to keep your hands and arms positioned correctly, while the mouse has just enough weight to give it a substantial, firm feel.
If you are like me, the old ergonomic keyboards of the past just didn't work for you -- they were too awkward to get used to and weren't all that comfortable. With the Logitech Wave, they've addressed those concerns in making a keyboard that is easy to use and comfortable for long periods of typing.
In this video review I walk you through the product set and talk about some of the features I like about the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave set as well as some of the things you should watch out for when purchasing any wireless desktop combination.

Green Onions Supply Anti-Glare AG2 Screen Protector for 15-Inch Aluminum Unibody Apple MacBook Pro Review

Green Onions Supply Anti-Glare AG2 Screen Protector for 15-Inch Aluminum Unibody Apple MacBook Pro
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For those that have seen the Apple matte/antiglare screen option for the 15", it's a thing of beauty, it really is. Even if you're a fan of the glossy and "true color" nature of the default MacBook Pro, you can't help but be in awe at just how wonderful that screen looks. The only problem: you lose the glass.
I admit to being somewhat skeptical about this product, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway, as I need antiglare for my MacBook, since I'm constantly inside with Fluorescent lighting. The first thing I noticed was how nicely this was packaged; it comes in a large Amazon box, then in a long flat sleeve inside the box. The sleeve is of a high enough quality that I felt immediately better about the purchase. The film itself looks blue, but worry not; that's just the outer protective layers. The film itself is definitely transparent. Unlike the RadTech film, this was cut to the dimensions of the MacBook Pro's screen, and it is here where I begin my journey (i.e. explain why it's 4 stars and not 5).
Know that the film does not go all the way to the edge of the screen area, and you will need to apply the film a very specific way if you want the best application.
1: Run a hot shower for about 5-10 minutes. The goal is to get just a little bit of steam going. This keeps dust particles from getting in your way. Then shut off the shower. Stay there though, you're doing this within the humid (hopefully now dust-free) environment.
2: Clean the screen THOROUGHLY. Mine was brand new, so I had no problems here. Dust if needed; I use towel that comes with theCleanDr 60107 01 LCD/Plasma Screen Cleaner which works wonders for catching stray dust particles without causing a mess.
3: Remove the tab that is labeled "1". This is the back and the side you apply to the glass. Step #4 below is critical...
4: LINE UP THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE FILM TO THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN BEZEL, right up against the rubber outline. This is key. If you try to do it from the side, you will mess up. Do it from the bottom and it'll be easy peasy.
5: Once applied, take a credit card or gift card or something, bend it in your finger so that one side is flat against the screen, and push any bubbles out towards the sides. Smaller bubbles may rub out on their own; that's fine. IF you still see bubbles, you got some dust trapped; you can remove and re-apply, but I wouldn't recommend it, as you might get even more dust on the back. It's up to you.
6: Once you're satisfied with the results, peel off the tab labeled "2". This is the blue sheet and the final piece of the puzzle.
When finished you should have a perfectly matte screen! You can then test the glare reduction against sunlight or even a lamp or something, and it makes a tremendous difference. I have to say that of all of the antiglare screens this one is the best, for two reasons. One, it's of a strong, durable quality, and two, it doesn't have nearly as much speckling effect to it - with some antiglare you lose a lot of the image quality due to some of the particles in the plastic that create color speckling. This has the speckling, but you can barely see it. It looks extremely close to Apple's version, but obviously better.
So...why'd I nail it a star? It's a nitpick...but I think Green Onions should consider four tabs on each side. Because you have to line it up from the bottom in order to get it perfect, four tabs would have allowed me to apply it flawlessly. I applied it the first time and had a millimeter carrying over the rubber, causing a bubble near the edge that wouldn't go away. Thinking it was cut wrong, I took a small blade to it and trimmed a bit off. I then realized I had space at the bottom and realized that I was just slightly off. My fault, yes...but I would have liked to have had two tabs on the bottom of each side so I could have applied it a different way. The tabs right now assume you're applying it from the side, which as I mentioned, is not an easy task.
Don't let my deviance deter you. This is the best it gets on MacBook antiglare. Don't pay Apple $50 to do the same thing you can do at a fraction of the cost. Pictures to come later.

LG Electronics 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Internal Drive GH24NS50 (Black) Review

LG Electronics 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Internal Drive GH24NS50 (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although most would describe this unit as cheap for its price, I just would say it's affordable... the difference, well this unit does what it should do in a very reliable and fast way. It's not noisy at all and the installation was simple as it can be. After looking for a decent CD/DVD writer, tons of different prices, I decided to try this one because its price.
I just have to state a warning, the picture here on Amazon it's not the product you will receive, I guess that's the GH24LS50 and the one you're buying is the GH24NS50. This unit (GH24NS50) is the one that doesn't have live scribe, on my personal case... who cares! But I know that a lot of people would see the description image and buy it thinking it's compatible with live scribe when its actually not.
Further than that, I completely recommend this unit, very affordable, reliable and I simply love it!

SolidTek DM-L2 DigiMemo L2 8-1/2-by-11-Inch Digital Notepad Review

SolidTek DM-L2 DigiMemo L2 8-1/2-by-11-Inch Digital Notepad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used the 8-1/2"x11" Digital Notepad every weekday for the past month to teach high school math classes. I use the on-line writing feature with a laptop connected to a projector to put notes on the board. I print these notes to pdf format using PrimoPDF and post them to a website. I use the Notepad off-line to write out and save solutions to exercises which would take too long to type in mathematical notation: these pages are easily downloaded from the Notepad's memory to a computer and printed to pdf format for posting on the web. After about 90 hours of use, I have found this product to be reliable and well worth the price.

The SolidTek DM-L2 DigiMemo L2 8-1/2-by-11-Inch Digital Notepad is a stand-alone device that can digitally capture what you write and draw on regular paper--with no special paper or computer. The Digital Notepad remembers the strokes that you draw and when you are done, you simply plug the Notepad into your computer via USB and upload your notes. Then you will have both a digital and a paper copy. The included DigiMemo Manager software lets you easily view, edit, and organize your digital pages in Windows. The digital pages can be saved as BMP, JPG, GIF, or PNG formats. You can then easily share your digital pages with others, or highlight, annotate, and edit them.
When the pad is connected to a PC, it can function as a graphics tablet, with the writing on the paper and the writing on the screen synchronized. The DigiMemo L2 has a writing area of 8 by 11 inches and has 32 MB of built-in storage, with a CompactFlash memory card slot for expansion. The pad is light and thin, and isn't uncomfortable to hold or use. The battery of the pen can last about 14 months and the pad will last about 100 hours on four AAA alkaline batteries. The unit automatically shuts down after 30 idle minutes.

CardScan Personal v8 Card Scanner Review

CardScan Personal v8 Card Scanner
Average Reviews:

This product definitely saves time, but it's NOT 100% accurate. Company and people's names aren't always scanned properly, nor are they put in the correct category (company name, mobile, etc.)
Admittedly, many fonts and logos on business cards make the company name hard to decipher (even for me!) so I can't totally blame this on the scanner. Considering how many diverse types of business cards exist in this world, it does a pretty good job.
The good news is that this product seems to understand NUMBERS very well, and I generally find numbers the most challenging characters to enter since I actually need to pay close attention (and therefore take more time).
Another aspect I like about this scanner is that it's highly portable. It small in size, includes a USB cable (which powers the device), and comes with a carrying case that accommodates both the scanner and cable. Definitely a nice feature to have.
So far I'm pleased with this item. I scanned, organized and "verified" 40 business cards in about 20 minutes, which I think is decent time. Typing them into Outlook would've taken me about 2 hours, or 3 hours factoring in "distractions."
Overall, I feel this is a good business tool to have, and Amazon's low price makes it a good value overall.

HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer Review

HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I looked and researched wireless printers and was going crazy. This one had all postive reviews so I decided to order it. I wanted an all in one printer/scanner/copy/ fax and wireless. At 149.00 dollars sale price I decided to go for it.
It came in a huge box and I thought what the heck did I order and when I took it out of the box it was bigger than my other all in one, but the double sided printing attachment adds some bulk (I have not tried this feature). It is noisier than my HP 4280 all in one, but that is not a big deal.
Set up was fairly easy, I just followed the instruction set up page. The software took a long time to install. I am familiar with printer set ups and installing software so no problem there just time consuming. It came with everything I needed including the USB cord (usually not included). The fax was easy to set up and send (I have not received a fax yet)It has speed dial too. The wireless works perfectly from my laptop. I'm familiar with HP software so the program is easy to use for scanning and it's easy to do copies too.
I am unfamiliar with printheads that you have to install yourself and I do not know if they have to be replaced periodically or not. The ink comes with a pop off top that was kind of scary but you just pop it off. Cartridges are very easy to install. It seems to have to go through a lot to get going including noise.
It took me over an hour but I wasn't in a big hurry.
The only problem I have encountered is with my new HP pavilion laptop 64bit running Vista. My desk top is a dell running XP, and I didn't have any software problems. The software installed on my laptop with no problems except it gives an error message when I shut down my laptop. My HP 4120 did the same thing, HP has not been able to give me a fix. It's a 64 bit problem.
I'm pretty impressed with all the features and I have printed out some 4 by 6 photos and had no problem using photo paper or 4 by 6 paper. The paper tray holds tons of paper which is nice when using wireless, in case I forget to check before printing.
I only gave it 4 stars because of the Vista 64 bit software glitch.
I am an intermediate to advanced computer user.

Mini Displayport Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Converting Adapter for Macbook Review

Mini Displayport Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Converting Adapter for Macbook
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This adapter connects your Macbook Pro with mini displayport to your TV via HDMI with audio. With this cable, there is no need to buy an extra cable or speakers for the audio to transfer from the laptop to the TV.
To hook up: plug the minidisplay port cable into laptop for video to TV. Plug in usb part of adapter to laptop to tansfer audio to TV. Connect adapter to HDMI cable and HDMI cable to the TV. Make sure TV is set for the appropriate HDMI cable slot your HDMI cable is plugged in to.
I found my adapter slightly cheaper on EBAY, but thought I'd review this here since I buy a lot on Amazon & look here for reviews and buying advice. Thought I may be able to help out someone else.
I had to make a few adjustments on my laptop settings after the cables were connected. To do this:
1) click on the apple icon, system preferences, displays, arrangement, then check the box for "mirror displays".This should transfer the video from the laptop to the TV.
2)click on the apple icon, system preferences, sound, output, then click on usb sound device. This should transfer the audio to the TV. Now, everything should be ready to go.
I am new to a Mac laptop & it took me awhile to figure this out, so I hope this helps someone else!

X-Rite Eye-One Display LT Review

X-Rite Eye-One Display LT
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Recently, I've read several books about Photoshop CS2 and digital photography and the general consensus of the authors relating to color management is that calibrating one's display device is essential. The overriding recommendation is to use hardware calibration (colorimeter) or, at the very least, an eyeball method (Adobe Gamma, QuickGamma).
Mindful of this information, I calibrated my home CRT, LCD and laptop and my work CRT with free a software program (QuickGamma) that was recommended by several digital camera and Photoshop sites. Previous to this I had used Adobe Gamma but I quickly found that QuickGamma produced superior results. Another thing I noticed was that it was much easier to calibrate the CRT's than either the LCD or the laptop using either eyeball method. When I printed photographs with my home inkjet there seemed to be a pretty good match between the CRT display and output but when I moved pictures from different computers there were noticeable shifts.
With my interest piqued, I decided to purchase a hardware calibrator the Eye-One Display LT (Light?) to see if I could match images between displays and to determine if I could achieve a closer color match between my printer and displayed image.
The Eye-One was easy to use and set up on all displays once I got the hang of the wizard that explains each step. As other reviewers have mentioned a software update is available from Pantone's site and this adds some functionality to the software and is a recommended update. Depending on your displays capabilities the Eye-One allows the user to optimize the, brightness, contrast, color temp, gamma, and RGB set points and then creates a custom profile for your display. With the LT version the color temps available are 5000, 6500 and 7200 and the gamma points are 1.8, 2.2. The next version up allows greater flexibility in these areas but the LT's numbers should be adequate for most users.
Using the updated software, I was able to compare before and after pictures. I also printed several pictures out using the new profile and checked them against my monitor. The results showed marginal improvement over the QuickGamma profile (approx 5%). So with my home CRT, I was not greatly impressed with the results. After profiling my laptop and LCD, however, my feelings changed. Both displays became more vibrant and accurate and, in addition, there was greater consistency between all my displays with regards to color reproduction.
Overall, a nice piece of hardware and software that is intuitive to use and is particularly effective at creating profiles for LCD's and Laptops.
Note: The calorimeter included with the LT is the same as the one included with the more expensive Eye-One Display 2. The only difference between the 2 packages is the included software, which can be upgraded if needed.
Update 1/7/10: I just recently used the Eye-One to calibrate my Panasonic HDTV. Along with the free software Color HCFR and Digital Video Essentials: HD Basics disc (which I rented from Netflix), I achieved excellent results with little to no hassle. Just Google "GREYSCALE & COLOR CALIBRATION FOR DUMMIES" and you will be provided with an excellent walk through. This additional functionality has made a great product even better.

Why do photographs sometimes not appear onscreen with the vibrancy of how the scene was shot? Why does color vary from monitor to monitor? The fact is, all monitors (yes, both new and old) display color differently. But with Eye-One Display LT, you can achieve accurate onscreen color just like the pros – without having to become a pro. Eye-One Display LT calibrates your monitor and adjusts the color onscreen, so your images remain true. Now you don't have to make excuses for poor color; your work can speak for itself.

Aluratek AIRMM01 Internet Radio Alarm Clock with built-in WiFi (Black) Review

Aluratek AIRMM01 Internet Radio Alarm Clock with built-in WiFi (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Think about the humble clock-radio. Everybody has one. They've scarcely changed in the last two decades. They have poor sound quality. Are usually in a bedroom where radio reception can be poor--and are usually given only a crummy wire antenna sticking out the back. With some, you can play a CD, just as CDs are being superseded by other digital music. Few can access the wealth of programming on satellite. Not a twenty-first century device.
This device brings the clock-radio into the 21st Century. It connects to your Wi-fi at home, and delivers almost any radio station you want from around the world.
NPR junkies can choose from a brace of stations, and the worldwide selection is superb--let me recommend Radio National and Directions in Groove from Australia, KQED and WNYC (the AM version; you'll get AM radio in hi-fi!), Deutsche Welle in English, Radio Netherlands, and of course, the BBC. Living in a non-English-speaking country, it's a real life-line for me.
It solves an issue that has vexed me with conventional clock radios I've owned. Reception problems. With an internet radio, the signal is as strong as your home wi-fi.
No need for an integrated CD. You can play music wirelessly from your computer or a USB stick.
And for a small speaker, the sound is remarkably good. You can plug it into your hi-fi if you wish, for even better sound.
It gets five stars, but not without a couple of glitches. The radio updates the station list automatically, but if a station changes its website in between software updates, you might miss out for a while. The menus are elaborate and can be a bit complex until you get used to them--and that includes the one you use simply to turn the alarm on. And the backlighted time displays ONLY when the radio is actually on; though I expect that glitch to be fixed in a software update.
